How Billing Changes When You Switch or Modify Your AMP Plan

What happens to your billing when you upgrade, downgrade, or modify your AMP plan — including timing, proration, and what to expect on your next invoice.

Changing your AMP plan — switching between Flex and Bundle, moving to an annual billing cycle, or adjusting your plan configuration — can affect when and how much you're billed. This article explains what to expect.

Key Billing Dates to Know

Before making a plan change, it helps to understand two key dates:

  • Your billing cycle start date — determined by the first day of your trial subscription. This is the date your plan renews each month (or year, on an annual plan).

  • Your plan change effective date — when the new plan takes effect on your account.

Switching from Flex to Bundle

If you switch from Flex (pay-as-you-go) to Bundle (flat rate):

  • Any Flex usage accrued during the current billing cycle up to the switch date will be charged immediately.

  • Your Bundle flat-rate charge will be billed immediately and your bill date will be reset to this date.

  • You won't be double-billed — Flex charges cover activity before the switch, and Bundle covers activity after.

Switching from Bundle to Flex

If you switch from Bundle to Flex:

  • Your Bundle plan covers the current billing cycle through to its end date. If a change is made before the end of your billing cycle, you will receive a prorated credit to your account that will be applied to the next Flex bill.

Switching from Monthly to Annual Bundle

Switching to an annual Bundle plan locks in a lower effective monthly rate for the year. When you make this change:

  • The annual charge is billed upfront at the start of your next billing cycle.

  • Your current monthly cycle runs to its end date before the annual plan takes effect.

Downgrading Your Plan

If you're looking to reduce costs — for example, moving from Bundle to Flex — we recommend:

  1. Reviewing your campaign volume and subscriber list size over the past few months to estimate what Flex would cost you.

  2. Using the Pricing Calculator at promopulse.io/pricing to compare estimated costs.

  3. Contacting the PromoPulse support team before making the switch — they can help you assess whether a downgrade makes sense.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I be charged twice if I switch plans mid-cycle?

No. Charges are calculated based on which plan was active during each part of your billing cycle. Flex usage before a switch is charged at end of cycle; Bundle charges apply immediately and your billing cycle date resets to that date. You won't be billed for the same period under two plans. Contact AMP support if you believe you've been double-charged.

When will the new plan pricing appear on my invoice?

Plan changes take effect immediately. Check your billing section in the AMP Self-Service Portal to confirm your next billing date.

I want to cancel — what happens to my current billing?

If you cancel your AMP account, your subscription runs to the end of the current billing period. You won't be charged for future cycles, but charges already incurred for the current period are not refunded. Contact AMP support or your PromoPulse account team if you'd like to discuss your options before cancelling.
